Jackson Browne maps summer 2010 tour with David Lindley :
Jackson Browne will head out on the road this summer with longtime collaborator David Lindley, as the two performers support a new 2-CD live set recorded during the pair's 2006 tour.
The tour kicks off July 20 in Las Vegas, and will hit 16 cities over the following four weeks, winding down Aug. 15 in Atlanta. Details are shown at right.
"Love is Strange," a two-disc set featuring material culled from Browne and Lindley's 2006 tour, is due in stores May 11.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Browne released "Time The Conqueror," his most recent studio set, in 2008 and spent most of last year touring behind the record with the same four-piece band he's stuck with for most of the past two decades: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals).
Browne has released 11 studio albums since his 1972 self-titled debut, including his most successful, 1977's "Running on Empty," which was nominated for a 1979 Grammy Award and has sold more than 7 million copies nationwide.
Lindley, a prominent sideman in the '70s with Browne, Warren Zevon, David Crosby and Graham Nash, among others, broke through to mainstream success as a solo artist with 1981's "El Rayo-X," which featured the Top 10 hit "Mercury Blues." His most recent solo effort was 2008's "Big Twang." ... Source Article ...

Jackson Browne Goes on 2010 Tour with David Lindley : Right after the release of their live album, "Love Is Strange" on May 11, the music duo will take to the road this summer in both the U.S. and Europe. Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne will take to the road this summer with his band and longtime friend and musical co-conspirator David Lindley. Comprising dates in the U.S. and Europe, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour follows the May 11 release of "Love Is Strange" (Inside Recordings), a 2-CD live set capturing a tour of Spain that Browne and Lindley did in 2006.
The Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour begins with a month-long European leg kicking off in Bristol, United Kingdom on June 3. Other highlights include shows at the Stadpark in Hamburg, Germany (6/15), Casino de Paris in Paris, France (6/18), and Hampton Court Palace and Royal Albert Hall in London (6/8 and 6/29, respectively). More European dates will be announced shortly. Stateside, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour gets underway July 20 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. U.S. summer dates run through the end of September; the first U.S. leg concludes at Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta on August 15. Highlights along the way include the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (7/23), the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California (7/24), Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado (8/5), and the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas (8/13).
Accompanying Jackson Browne and David Lindley on tour will be Browne's band of almost 20 years: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals). They're joined by members (since 2008) Chavonne Stewart and Alethea Mills, vocalists Browne (as a mentor) met in 2001 when they were attending Washington Preparatory High School in South Los Angeles, singing in the school choir.
On record and in performance, Jackson Browne and David Lindley have a musical association reaching back almost 40 years. Regarded as a legendary stringed-instrument virtuoso, Lindley has played on many of Browne's albums, beginning with 1973's "For Everyman," and on classics including "Late For The Sky" and "The Pretender" (the latter two both on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time). Browne also produced Lindley's best-known LP, 1983's acclaimed "El Rayo-X."
Prior to 2010's Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour, the last time the two musicians played live dates together was a 2006 run of concerts in Spain—in grand concert halls, rock venues, and intimate clubs alike. That tour resulted in the forthcoming 2-CD album "Love Is Strange," "En Vivo Con Tino"— featuring Browne and Lindley live with celebrated Spanish percussionist Tino di Geraldo. Set for worldwide release May 11 on Browne's independent label Inside Recordings, "Love Is Strange" was produced by Jackson Browne and Paul Dieter.
In liner notes Browne wrote for "Love Is Strange," he considers Lindley's reputation for elusiveness nearly as mythic as his string-playing prowess. "Why had I not thought of this before? Take him where he doesn't speak the language and he will HAVE TO leave the gig and come with you to the restaurant, or to the club," says Browne. "This was an unexpected strategy breakthrough in a pursuit that for a legion of friends, disciples and admirers has become known as 'stalking the wild Lindley.'"
The breakthrough continues with the not-to-be-missed 2010 Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour. ... Source Article ...

Jackson Browne Biography (Short bio on Jackson Browne) : Singer/songwriter Jackson Browne's introverted, finely observed songs and strong melodic sense made him one of the most influential singer/songwriters of his generation. Browne's early work infused domestic sagas with a sense of romantic doom, making lovers into heroes. In the 1980s, however, Browne began focusing more sharply on socio-political themes which matched his growing social activism.
Jackson Browne's family moved to Southern California when he was young, and in his late teens he played guitar with an embryonic version of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, which later performed his songs. He spent the winters of 1967 and 1968 in Greenwich Village, where he backed Tim Buckley and Nico; she did an early cover of Browne's "These Days." By 1969 he had begun to establish a reputation as a songwriter, and in the next few years Tom Rush, the Byrds, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and others performed his songs, and he toured as an opening act for Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell. Browne's solo debut album produced a hit with "Doctor My Eyes" (Number 8, 1972) and eventually went gold. He cowrote the Eagles' first hit, "Take It Easy."
With each album Browne's following grew. Jackson Browne (Number 53, 1972) went gold; For Everyman (Number 43, 1973) and Late for the Sky (Number 14, 1974) went platinum. The Pretender became his first Top Ten album; its sense of despair derived in part from the suicide of his first wife, Phyllis, in 1976, two and a half years after the birth of their son, Ethan. A 1977 tour produced Running on Empty (Number Three, 1978), a live concept album about touring featuring new material recorded onstage, in hotel rooms, and on the tour bus, including the hit title track (Number 11, Pop) and a remake of "Stay" (Number 20, Pop). Hold Out (1980) went to Number One in its first week of release. Browne's 1983 album, Lawyers in Love (Number Eight), introduced many of the sociopolitical themes he would continue to explore in Lives in the Balance (Number 23, 1986) and World in Motion (Number 45, 1989). Though Lawyers, boosted by the Top 20 title track, hit Number Eight, but did not go platinum.
In 1993 Browne returned to matters of the heart with I'm Alive (Number 40), on which he worked with long-time collaborator and coproducer Scott Thurston (Don Was also produced two tracks). The album generated unusually careful media scrutiny, coming as it did after Browne's highly publicized breakup with actress Daryl Hannah. Browne took a three-year leave from the studio before coming back with Looking East (Number 36, 1996), on which he blended his political voice with his more introspective outlook. The album failed to generate much interest, though, and the following year Browne commemorated his quarter-century of recording with the release of a best-of collection.
Browne has been active in numerous organizations devoted to progressive social change, including MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy), Amnesty International, and the Christic Institute. He has produced albums for Warren Zevon, his former guitarist David Lindley, Native American poet John Trudell, and high school friend Greg Copeland, as well as Nicaraguan group Guardabarranco. He has collaborated with fellow West Coast songwriters, including J.D. Souther, Lowell George, Valerie Carter, and the Eagles.
The Naked Ride Home, Browne's first album of the new millennium, came in 2002. A two-disc collection, The Very Best of Jackson Browne (Number 46, 2004), was released in 2004, and Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bruce Springsteen that same year. Browne continued to do acoustic solo tours around the world, culminating in compilations Solo Acoustic Vol. 1 (Number 55, 2005) and Solo Acoustic Vol. 2 (Number 24, 2008) released on Browne's label, Inside Recordings. In the fall of 2008 he released Time the Conqueror, his first proper studio album in six years and launched an international tour through 2009. ... Source Article Here ...
